Tuna Poke is the classic and most popular version of the Hawaiian poke dish. Its base is fresh, diced raw tuna (most commonly of the ahi or maguro variety), which is the main ingredient. The tuna is marinated in a traditional poke sauce, based on soy sauce and sesame oil. This marinade gives the fish a deep flavor and tender texture. Various fresh vegetables and toppings are added to the tuna, making the dish nutritious and visually appealing: rice (usually sushi rice), avocado, cucumbers, onions (green or red), edamame, carrots, seaweed (wakame).
