Maguo Gunkan

Gunkan Maguro is a variation of the popular Japanese gunkan sushi (“warship”) that emphasizes the freshness and flavor of tuna (maguro). As with other gunkan, the base is an oval ball of rice, wrapped with a strip of nori forming sides. Finely chopped fresh tuna is then placed into the resulting “cup.” Maguro tuna is renowned for its bright, clean flavor with subtle sea notes and a firm yet tender texture.
