Gunkan Unagi

Description
Gunkan Unagi is a refined dish of Japanese cuisine, representing a special type of sushi – gunkan (lit. “warship”). Its base is an oval ball of rice, wrapped with a strip of nori in such a way that it forms a “boat” or “cup” on top. This “cup” is generously filled with tender, usually smoked or grilled, eel fillet (unagi). Eel has a characteristic sweet and salty flavor and a buttery texture, which, combined with rice and nori, creates a truly rich and exquisite gastronomic experience. Often, Gunkan Unagi is garnished with unagi sauce (sweet soy sauce) and/or sesame seeds.
